Yiwarra Kuju: The Canning Stock Route exhibition

The Yiwarra Kuju exhibition was developed by the National Museum of Australia and FORM. It toured Australia from 2010 to 2013.

The exhibition told the story of the Canning Stock Route's impact on Aboriginal people, and the importance of the Country that surrounds it, through the works of senior and emerging artists and the stories of traditional custodians.

Kaninjaku: Stories from the Canning Stock Route takes highlights from this ground-breaking show and combines them with works from the Museum's collections that have not been previously displayed.

The Canning Stock Route collection online

The Canning Stock Route collection includes more than 100 canvases produced by artists who travelled the stock route on a return to Country in 2007.

More stories and artworks were added to the collection, which was acquired by the National Museum of Australia in 2009.

A painting on canvas with a range of orange-red rock formations lying low against a blue sky backdrop. In front of the formations are green and light brown trees and yellow-brown grass-like foliage. In the foreground are two horizontal rows of orange-red rock formations creating a valley-like appearance. The valley and some of the rock formations are covered in expanses of flowers in blue, yellow and cream as well as trees in green and beige-white.
