Diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging at the Museum
The Museum is committed to fostering and strengthening diversity across the workplace. By valuing diversity, the Museum is better positioned to engage with and connect to a broad range of people, bringing diverse perspectives, experiences, ideas and solutions into a safe and inclusive workplace.
The Museum recognises and values individual differences and is committed to actively embracing, supporting, and leveraging these differences to deliver both organisational and individual benefits. This approach helps ensure that everyone – regardless of background – has equitable opportunities to work, develop, and feel a strong sense of belonging at the Museum.
Our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Strategy has been developed to demonstrate and embed the Museum’s commitment to these principles:
- Equity – ensuring fair treatment, access, and opportunity for all
- Inclusion – creating an environment where every voice is valued
- Innovation – embracing diverse perspectives to foster creativity and new ideas
- Performance – recognising that an inclusive culture drives strong organisational outcomes
Implementation of the strategy will be guided by five action plans, each supporting targeted initiatives across multiple diversity groups and recognising the importance of intersectionality. These action plans focus on:
- First Nations
- Cultural diversity and inclusion
- Diverse genders and sexualities
- Disability and accessibility
- Neurodiversity and accessibility
