Indigenous Reference Group Chair

Professor Megan Davis is a renowned constitutional lawyer and public law expert, specialising in Indigenous peoples and the law, the constitutional recognition of First Nations and democracy. She was central to the Referendum Council’s process that led to the Uluru Statement from the Heart, for which she was awarded the Sydney Peace Prize.

A Cobble Cobble woman from south-west Queensland, Megan is the Gough Whitlam and Malcolm Fraser Chair in Australian Studies at Harvard University. Other key appointments include visiting professor at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School and Acting Commissioner of the NSW Land and Environment Court.

Megan is also Pro Vice-Chancellor Society and Scientia Professor and Balnaves Chair in Constitutional Law at UNSW Sydney.

Megan joined the Museum’s Council in 2024.
