Professor Ann McGrath is a Distinguished Professor of History and previously Kathleen Fitzpatrick ARC Laureate Professor at the Australian National University where she directed the Research Centre for Deep History. She has published widely on Australian and North American history, including Deep History: Country and Sovereignty (ed. with Jackie Huggins) and The Routledge Companion to Global Indigenous History (ed. with Lynette Russell).

Ann has co-directed and produced films including Message from Mungo and Japarta, and developed digital products and museum exhibitions. She is an international member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities, and the Academy of Social Sciences.

Ann joined the Museum’s Council in August 2024.
