The Korean–Australian experience
Gandel Atrium | Free
Hallyu, or the Korean Wave, refers to the global popularity of South Korean culture. In Australia, with its growing Korean communities, hallyu inspires new forms of expression and amplifies local voices.
This display brings together filmmaker Andrew Undi Lee, chef Jung Eun Chae and her partner Yoora Yoon, hip-hop group 1300, visual artist Sophi Odling and fashion designer Miranda Day. These practitioners reinterpret hallyu through their heritage and lived experience. Their work also has a broader influence and inspires cross-cultural innovation.
Through these stories, hallyu emerges as a collaborative current energising Korean culture and connecting Australian creativity to a global conversation.
