Speaker bios
Dr Rosalie Kim joined the V&A in 2012 as curator of the Korean collection in the Asia department and led exhibitions including Hallyu! The Korean Wave and Lustrous Surfaces: Lacquer from Asia and Beyond. With a background in architecture and philosophy, her interest lies in Korean craft and design, world lacquer history, and the making of contemporary culture in the digital age. Prior to the V&A, she worked as an architect in Korea and Europe and led architectural design studios at Kingston University. She is a recipient of the 2025 Minister’s Commendation Award from the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Kate Morschel is a Senior Curator at the National Museum of Australia and the Lead Coordinating Curator of Hallyu! The Korean Wave. With a curatorial practice grounded in photography and new media, Kate brings a collaborative approach to contemporary storytelling to convey how global cultures are remixed and reimagined locally.
