General
1. Information on how to enter and prize details form part of these Terms and Conditions. Participation in this competition (“Competition”) constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. Entries not complying with these Terms and Conditions are ineligible and will be disregarded.

3. The Competition commences at 9:00am (AEST) on Friday 4 July 2025 and closes at 11:59pm (AEST) on Sunday 7 September 2025 (“Competition Period”).
4. Entry is open to all Australian residents of all ages during the Competition Period.
5. Entries for people aged under 18 years must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian.
6. Employees of the Promoter and their immediate families are ineligible to enter.
7. Only one entry per person is permitted. Duplicate entries will be disqualified.
8. Entry into the Competition is free, however, entrants (or their parent/legal guardian) are responsible for any costs associated with accessing, printing and submitting an entry form and/or acquiring any necessary materials for participation.
How to enter
9. During the Competition Period, eligible entrants must:
a. Complete the squiggle drawing on the official competition template and entry form available:
- for download at: http://www.nma.gov.au/competition
- in selected print publications
- at the National Museum of Australia’s Tim and Gina Fairfax Discovery Centre, Information Desk, and during selected onsite programs and events.
b. Complete the entry form with the entrant’s information name, age, postcode, state, email and contact phone number. For entrants aged under 18 years, a parent or legal guardian must provide their own name, relationship to entrant, phone number and email address on the entry form.
c. Submit the completed squiggle artwork and form as a scanned PDF or photo (JPG) file via email to squiggle@nma.gov.au, using the entrant’s name and age in the file name.
10. The maximum file size for submitted artwork is 20MB.
11. Entrants can use pencils, crayons, paint, markers, mixed media or digital illustration tools to create their artwork.
12. Entries will only be accepted using the official competition template and entry form, and submitted artwork must be the entrant’s original creation.
13. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for late, lost, incomplete, corrupted, or misdirected entries.
Judging and prizes
14. A total of 40 prize packs are available to be won. Each pack is valued at $69.99 (RRP), with a total prize pool value of $2,799.60. Each prize pack contains a:
- limited edition Mr Squiggle and Friends exhibition tote bag
- Mr Squiggle activity book and pencils
- copy of Mr Squiggle and The Preposterous Purple Crocodile by Margaret Hetherington, illustrated by Norman Hetherington.
15. All valid entries will be judged by a panel comprised of Promoter staff. Entries will be judged based on creativity and originality, as determined by the panel, within the following age group categories:
- 4 years and under
- 5–12 years
- 13–17 years
- 18 years and over.
16. Ten winners will be selected from each category, for a total of 40 winners.
17. Winners will be notified by Tuesday 23 September 2025 via the contact details provided, and their name (first initial and surname), state and age category will be published on the Competition landing page and the Promoter’s social media pages on Wednesday 24 September 2025.
18. Prizes must be claimed by Friday 31 October 2025. Unclaimed prizes may be forfeited at the Promoter’s discretion.
19. Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be redeemed for cash.
Further conditions
20. The Promoter reserves the right to:
- verify the validity of entries and entrants
- disqualify any entrant who tampers with the entry process or submits an entry not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions
- modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the Competition in the event that it cannot be run as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the Promoter’s control.
21. By submitting an entry, entrants (or their parent/guardian) warrant that the work is original and does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.
22. By entering this Competition, entrants (and their parents/guardians for those under 18) grant the Promoter a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, reproduce, publish and display their submitted artwork entry for promotional purposes in connection with the Mr Squiggle and Friends exhibition and this Competition, on the Promoter’s website and social media channels.
23. The Promoter is not liable for any loss or damage (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with this Competition or any of the prizes, except for liability that cannot be excluded by law.
24. The Promoter’s decision in relation to any aspect of this Competition is final and binding.
25. By entering the Competition, you consent to the Promoter collecting, using and disclosing your personal information for the purposes of administering this Competition. Information will not be disclosed to third parties other than as described in these Terms and Conditions or as permitted or required by law.
