Three secondary school students will question Australia's most senior public servant, the Secretary of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, Dr Peter Shergold, at a Talkback Classroom forum at the National Museum of Australia in Canberra on Wednesday morning.

The student panel plans to question Dr Shergold on accountability, giving governments 'frank and fearless' advice, the politicisation of the public service and a range of other topics.

The Year 11 students set to question Dr Shergold are Annelise Nielsen, Presbyterian Ladies' College, Perth; Timothy Gorton, Xavier College, Melbourne; and Else Kennedy, Penrith High School, Sydney.
