Ahead of Sydney WorldPride 2023, join us for one big inclusive night of queer joy as we explore and celebrate our diverse cultures and histories.

Bring your friends and chosen family to the National Museum for an evening of dazzling drag shows, curious collection stories, a pop-up queer exhibition, dance workshops and more!

Drag queen glow-up

Get creative, unleash your inner diva and get ready to glow up (literally) with UV face and body paint or sparkle and shine with biodegradable eco-glitter from Earth Glitter!

Queering the Museum Q&A

What happens when the GLAM sector (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums) goes glam? Join arts and culture professionals for a discussion of ‘queering’ as a critical practice and a transformative response to exclusion that can support museums, galleries and practitioners to think more deeply about new ways of doing diversity work.

Pop-up exhibition

Tell your story your way in our crowdsourced pop-up exhibition. Add to the acronym in a collaborative artwork and contribute your moments to the Defining Moments in Australian Queer History wall.

Frequently asked questions

Is the event adults only?

Night at the Museum is primarily targeted at an adult audience and as such there may be elements of the program that could be considered unsuitable for younger people. The program is not recommended for people under the age of 16.

What time do doors open?

Doors open at 6pm.

Will food and drink be available?

Yes! The Museum Café will be operating on the night.

Can I BYO alcohol?

No. Our onsite caterer will have a selection of beer, cider, wine and non-alcoholic drinks available for purchase.

Can I buy tickets at the door?

Unless we have reached capacity, tickets will be available at the door, but we encourage you to book in advance.

What concession cards do you accept?

The National Museum accepts all state and federal concessions cards, current student cards and companion cards.

I can’t find my ticket

Try searching your junk folder for an email from Eventbrite or National Museum of Australia. We can also search for your ticket when you arrive at the door. Or contact us at programs@nma.gov.au.

Can I present my ticket on my phone?

Yes. Simply display your tickets on your phone at the entrance. It helps if you zoom in on the QR code and turn your phone screen brightness up to 100%.
