20th Birthday Campaign

Next year the Museum turns 20, and to mark the anniversary we are launching the 20th Birthday Campaign.

The campaign is our response to the events of 2020 — your donations will help the Museum support and strengthen communities across the country who have been impacted by fire, drought and COVID-19.

As a donor to the 20th Birthday Campaign you can choose between three separate appeals, each focused on an area of need.

The Defining the Symbols of Australia Appeal will support a travelling exhibition, which will tour regional galleries, enable curators to visit and engage, and encourage a national conversation about what it means to be Australian.

Thank you to all our wonderful donors who have helped us to raise $40,000 towards the Australia Suite Appeal. We have reached our fundraising target and this appeal is now closed. Your help means that in 2021 we will share this wonderful music composed by Leonard and Slave Grigoryan at a live concert broadcast by ABC’s Radio National and at regional concerts.

The Encounters Fellowships Appeal focuses on providing Indigenous cultural workers with Fellowship positions at the Museum, and enabling research projects and placements at international cultural institutions.
