The Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme is being honoured as a Defining Moment in Australian History with the presentation of a commemorative plaque in Cooma this Sunday, 19 March 2017.
National Museum director Dr Mathew Trinca will present the plaque during a ceremony at the Cooma Multicultural Festival, reflecting the Snowy scheme’s multicultural workforce.
Officially opened in 1972, the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme, was one of the initial 100 key moments chosen by a group of eminent Australians, to kick off the Museum’s Defining Moments project.
The Snowy scheme is also one of 25 ‘moments’ which will feature on plaques in the Museum’s Main Hall.
