An open letter
30 May 2020
Over the days and weeks ahead, the National Cultural Institutions will reopen our doors and welcome the public back into our beautiful buildings.
Millions of you have engaged with us online since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, and we hope this has brought you joy and comfort. We are delighted that we will soon reconnect with you in person and provide great art, cultural and learning experiences that contribute to our understanding of this ever-changing world.
Over the month of June and through winter, the National Cultural Institutions will progressively reopen. With the pandemic still among us, we are working hard to adapt our spaces and programs to help ensure your visit is both an engaging and a safe one. Some things will operate a little differently, as we follow public health guidelines, and we thank you for working with us on this.
The role of libraries, archives, galleries and museums has never been more important in connecting communities, exploring ideas, inspiring learning and providing a place to share and reflect on our experiences.
We look forward to seeing you soon as we explore the Australian story in all its dimensions.
For those of you who cannot visit us onsite, we will continue to bring you great experiences online.
Check the websites of the individual National Cultural Institutions for specific information on reopening dates, attractions, programs and visitor protocols.
We thank you for your support, contributions and friendship over this period and hope to see you soon.
