If you want to make the most of your visit to the National Museum of Australia or you have limited time, guided tours are ideal. Each tour is personalised and run by a trained Visitor Services Host. Your host knows all about the Museum's exhibitions and can share engaging background information with you during your tour.

Enjoy a free ten-minute talk focusing on some of the highlights from the Museum's collections or the symbolism of the Garden of Australian Dreams. Ask at the Information desk on arrival for the talk topics and times for that day.

This guided tour provides visitors with an overall impression of each of the Museum's exhibitions. It offers an excellent general introduction to the National Museum of Australia. Fees apply.
First Australians

Daily at 3pm
This is a guided tour through the First Australians gallery. It provides an insight into Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' history, cultures, spirituality and connections to country. The tour is designed to give you an insight into Australia's Indigenous history. Fees apply.

Open Collections is a part of the First Australians gallery that gives visitors a special 'behind the scenes' glimpse of more than 2000 objects from the National Museum of Australia's Indigenous collections. First Australians gallery. Free.

Circa is a rotating theatre located at the entry to the National Museum of Australia's galleries. It provides visitors with a 16-minute audiovisual experience that takes them on a journey through Australia's past and introduces them to the National Museum's collections.
Peninsula tales
Cost: Adults $10, Concession $8
Thursday 16 May, 11am – 12 noon
Join our guides, Ernest and Catherine, wearing period costumes, as they share the history of Acton Peninsula on a one-hour walking tour.

We recommend you wear comfortable shoes on this outdoor tour. Our tours are conducted at an easy pace, however participants must be fit to walk and stand for an hour. If you have any special needs please advise us at the time of booking. The tour may be cancelled in the event of severe weather and refunds or transfers will be made available.
