PERSPECTIVES FROM ANTHROPOLOGY, HISTORY AND MATERIAL CULTURE STUDIES

A conference held at the National Museum of Australia, in association with the School of Archaeology and Anthropology, Faculty of Arts, Australian National University.

A linking theme was the development of local 'hybrid economies' involving the articulation of Indigenous and settler social and economic forms, and the emergence of new complexes of transactions and relations.

We covered a broad variety of economies from whaling to CDEP across the span of more than two centuries.
