Frank Moorhouse

Frank Moorhouse is an accomplished Australian author who won the Miles Franklin Award in 2001 for Dark Palace which, with companion novel Grand Days, traced the story of Australian woman Edith Campbell Berry and her work with the League of Nations.

Frank spent his time as a National Museum of Australia Research Fellow working on the third novel in the series. The story is set in Canberra in the 1950s, after the collapse of the League of Nations. Frank plans to use the Museum's collection and curatorial expertise as a source for the novel.

Frank started his writing career as a journalist and has written short stories and screenplays. As one of the first recipients of an Australia Council Creative Fellowship, Frank worked in Europe researching the first two Edith Campbell Berry novels.

Frank has undertaken numerous fellowships, won many literary awards and his work has been translated into several languages.

He was made a member of the Order of Australia for services to literature in 1985 and was awarded an honorary doctorate from Griffith University in 1997.
