Looking Around

In 2004 and 2005 the National Museum invited four different community groups or photographers to produce a photographic essay responding to the question, 'What is important and special about where you live?'

The photographs explore the idea that suburbs are not merely a collection of houses and streets but a network of people who come together through schools, sporting clubs and other community organisations. Each exhibit was displayed in the National Museum of Australia's Nation gallery for three months and then accessible through the Museum's website.
