Tim Wilson is the Senior Ramsar Officer for the Coorong and Lakes Alexandrina and Albert Ramsar site. The site was nominated as a Wetland of International Importance by the Australian Government in 1985, primarily for its global value as a habitat for waterbirds and migratory waders. Most recently it has been recognised as one of the six significant ecological assets of the Living Murray Initiative.
Tim's job is to oversee the preparation of the new management plan for this Ramsar site. In a nutshell, the new management plan will identify ways to improve the health of the Ramsar site, balancing the needs of the natural environment with those of the community.
