Rick has had a lifetime love of the land and nature. This has meant that he has never had to grow up and can still stand in awe of a spider spinning its web or lie on his back for hours watching clouds and making up stories about them for his children.
Rick lives near the head of the Murray-Darling Basin catchment in a rural community. He has spent much of his working life in the Murray-Darling Basin involved with natural resource management at property, local government and state government levels. In between a busy work schedule and watching clouds and spiders, Rick heads off into the hills on his mountain bike to enjoy the diversity of flora, fauna and views of the region (and to lose copious quantities of sweat).
