A stone arrangement of a sea turtle

This sea turtle was built by the Kabi Kabi people, the Quandamooka people or the Komburrierri people, all of which are coastal aboriginal tribes of south-east Queensland. It is located at the Meringindan site, which was used for special ceremonies by men and also contains many other significant stone arrangements, relics from the days of the Bunya Mountains Festival.

Building a heritage/learning centre

This concrete slab forms the basis of a heritage/learning centre and keeping place currently being constructed at Meringindan. Artefacts will be stored here, which will help return them 'back to country' while also teaching the community about cultural heritage history. In the background, the Bunya Mountains are visible. They were the destination of the south-east Queensland tribes who traveled through this site every three years and used it for significant ceremonies.

A sign that marks significant bora ground at Kingaroy

This sign marks a significant bora ground at Kingaroy, at the headwaters of the Murray-Darling Basin. It defines a parcel of land in Queensland passed back to traditional owners, the Wakka Wakka people. Despite the obvious disrespect for the sign, the site is still preserved.
