This man is my grandfather. He lived all his life in Echuca farming and raising a family. Being a war veteran, having served in the Middle East with the 2/3rd Machine Gunners, his death inspired me to paint the Digger series.

Dad's Grave, Echuca

One year later another man who lived in Echuca died. My father. On the day he died we had planned to watch the footy, have some beers and a laugh but it never eventuated. I don't remember who was playing.

This is me. I made this documentary about the Diggers series the day before my grandfather's funeral. The paintings tried to express how man and his environment form each other as an explanation for why the ANZAC's spirit lives.
