Our group has been monitoring local waterways through the local Waterwatch program for several years, we undertake regular monitoring at this site to ensure that the water in our local area is healthy for domestic use, swimming, boating and irrigation.

Water quality:

Turbidity: 20
pH: 7.0
Nitrates: 0.05mg/L
Salinity: 390EC units
Phosphates: 0.1

The sandbar seems to have been cleared of some reeds since our last sampling.

ACT Waterwatch says:

This site is in pretty good shape, but phosphates are a little higher than one would like to see.

This site is one of our regular Waterwatch monitoring sites and it is located on the Murray River next to the Loveday Pumping Station. The land use in the area is recreational, and agricultural. The site is located near the causeway of the old Loveday evaporation basin.

What's going on:

The site is the location of the Loveday Pumping station that supplies water to local homes, businesses and irrigators. Nearby is the old Loveday basin and townships of Loveday and Cobdogla.

As above – we monitor the water quality at the site each school term as part of the Waterwatch program.
