ACT Waterwatch says:
People can cause erosion at well loved sites; more organised trails and stairs might help this site. However, the salinity is quite high, and probably the result of removing deep rooted trees and irrigation.
About the site
Large wide open sand based river, species include phragmites, red gum, river oak, weeping willows, good bank cover and average canopy cover.
What's going on:
No stock access directly to site but used as a public swimming site, recreational fishing site, bank vegetation slashed and car tracks leading down banks, in places human feet are causing erosion of the sandy banks, weeds include willows and nagoora burr, carp are present and a timber mill is on the bank just upstream, housing on one site of top bank.
No work undertaken to date.
