National Museum to screen National Apology

12 FEBRUARY 2008

The apology by the Australian Government to the Stolen Generations will be shown on a big screen in the main hall at the National Museum of Australia tomorrow morning.

"The National Museum of Australia is proud to be part of this significant milestone in Australian history," said Dr Michael Pickering, Director of the National Museum of Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Program.

"We are pleased to be in a position to provide this level of community support and to assist the Stolen Generations Alliance with this important event," Dr Pickering said.

The National Museum of Australia was approached by the Stolen Generations Alliance to provide a comfortable venue for Aboriginal visitors to view the apology, specifically elderly people and those with mobility difficulties.

Members of the public are welcome to attend.
