The National Museum was delighted to be the first venue to receive the travelling Gab Titui exhibition Evolution: Torres Strait Islander Masks, which was on display in our First Australians Focus Gallery. The opening included a performance by the remarkable Zugubal dance group from the Torres Strait.

Leitha Assan, Operations and Exhibitions Manager at Gab Titui, was the lead curator of the exhibition. Leitha was also one of the 2016 recipients of the Encounters Cultural Workers Scholarships. Alick Tipoti, a well-known artist from Badu Island and a member of Zugubal, was guest curator.
