Hay (coiled and cobbled).
Artist statement:
'Grass Skull represents my move to a more common material, meadow fodder or meadow hay, a mown pasture herbage. After developing Samplers I made this skull as a starting point, the very bone basket that is the container of the brain. Grass Skull is a hollow form and is approximately the same thickness as a human skull; indeed I had a human skull to work from. My form is not accurate around the jaw line as this is a complex area and the nature of fodder used in this way simply could not accommodate that complexity. Grass Skull is a starting point in the next stage of my exploration of art and life.'
