The National Museum of Australia is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a very special exhibition. Captivating and Curious features over 450 objects from the National Historical Collection - many of which have never before been displayed. From Flinders' anchor to Holden prototype car no. 1 and a massive kewpie doll from the 2000 Olympics, the exhibition highlights significant moments in Australia's history.
Many of the objects, such as a lovingly crafted doll's house and a tinker's wagon, offer tales of domestic life and everyday struggles. Come and reminisce, rediscover and be captivated by our wonderful collection.
Captivating and Curious celebrates the Museum's rich and diverse collection. Today the Museum cares for over 200,000 objects, providing a major resource for exploring Australian history. Each object is a reminder of our past. There is material representing Indigenous Australia, items associated with major events, specimens recording our relationship with the Australian environment, as well as ephemera of our everyday lives. The preservation of this collection ensures that Australians will have access to a visible record of their past.
