In our defence

With the continuing Australian presence in Iraq and Afghanistan, and fresh deployments to the Solomon Islands and East Timor, cartoonists have questioned the sustainability of Australia's overseas military commitments. The debate was brought into sharp focus with the death of Private Jake Kovco in April 2006, and the bungled return of his body to Australia.

Your country needs you

Geoff Pryor - Canberra Times, 2006

Cartoon of an Australian Defence Force officer sitting at a desk in the ADF Recruitment Centre with two posters behind him. One shows a military officer pointing his finger with the slogan, 'Your country needs you'; the other shows a man of Muslim origin with big monster like arms grabbing the globe of the world
