PAPUNYA PAINTING GALLERY

The Papunya Painting exhibition, on show at the National Museum in Canberra, includes many works on canvas, carvings and other objects. All works are part of the National Museum of Australia collection unless otherwise stated.

Sand and paint

The Papunya Painting exhibition includes Dreaming of Matjadji, a work by David Corby Tjapaltjarri, which is displayed lying flat on red sand from the Papunya region. The image on the right shows artists at work in the desert. Uta Uta Tjangala's Yumari 1981 work can be seen at the far end.
