The history of various sports and what they reveal about the values of Australian society are explored in the Sport: A National Obsession? display in the Nation gallery.

Australian Rules football, cricket, cycling, horse racing, netball, tennis, surfing and the Olympic games feature, and various Australian sporting champions are profiled.

The exhibition draws on the National Historical Collection, with the heart of champion race horse Phar Lap on show.

Recent acquisitions also make an appearance, including tennis player Evonne Goolagong's Wimbledon trophy, netballer Liz Ellis's netball uniform and a baggy green cap worn by Australian test cricketer Ian Chappell.

Sit back in the mini grandstand and enjoy the multimedia presentation of some great Australian sporting moments.
