Governor Macquarie's sword installation
Governor Lachlan Macquarie would have purchased this sword around the time of his marriage to his wife, Elizabeth, in late 1807. He would have worn it on ceremonial occasions, such as military parades and official dinners, as part of his full dress uniform.
The sword was installed in the National Museum's Sydney exhibit in the Landmarks gallery by conservator Tara James, registrar Paul Peisley and contractor Sonja Knudsen.
