National Museum of Australia - Great Railway Journeys of Australia

Great Railway Journeys of Australia was on show at the National Museum of Australia from 20 April to 26 August 2007 in the Nation Focus Gallery.

Since the introduction of railways to Australia more than 150 years ago, train travel has played an important role in Australian cultural life.

This exhibition explored the development of Australia's rail network and featured some of the most famous railway journeys in the country, such as the old and new Ghan, the Queenslander and the Indian Pacific.

It also featured exciting objects of Australia's railway history, from the dining setting of an early 1920s dining carriage to a model of a Southern Aurora club car.
