10 Mile Bridge

It's the construction of this bridge that makes this picture so special. The wood has aged beautifully, each textural line telling of its own survival against the elements. This bridge was built in the late 1800s and I find it amazing that something of this age was able to last as long as it has, unlike the creek itself which has now run dry for the first time in 40 years. This bridge will have a place in my heart of memories forever. It has a unique wavy surface and if you sat at the back of our school bus it would literally bounce you out of your seat. The bridge now has been replaced by the new cement version.
