PS Ruby

The Paddlesteamer Ruby was built at Morgan, by David Milne in 1907, for Captain Hugh King. The Ruby was 205 tons gross, 130 feet 9 inches in length and had a beam of 18 feet 9 inches. She had a light draught of 6 feet, but she would only draw between 2 feet 6 inches and 3 feet 6 inches when fully laden with around 55 tons. This enabled her to operate on much lower river levels, when other passenger steamers were tied up.
