Each year the National Museum invites four different community groups or photographers to produce a photographic essay responding to the question, 'What is important and special about where you live?'
The photographs explore the idea that suburbs are not merely a collection of houses and streets but a network of people who come together through schools, sporting clubs and other community organisations. Each exhibit is displayed in the National Museum of Australia's Nation gallery for three months and is accessible through the Museum's website.
If you think your suburb is worth showing off to the rest of the nation, the National Museum of Australia would like to hear from you. Please email lookingaround@nma.gov.au
