Gordon Syron

Title:
Living with the invader

Abstract:
My paintings tell the true stories of what is happening to Aboriginal people today and what we remember about our past and how we arrived at where we are today. I paint about Australian history, the history that I know and experience. A recurrent theme in my work is struggles within the black/white relationships. In my talk I wish to discuss why Aboriginal People are angry? What causes Aboriginal deaths in custody? Why are more than 50 percent of many jails full of Aboriginal men and women? Through my paintings I get to express my knowledge and ideas on ways of living with the invaders.
