The state of environmental assessment: A national conference
Friday 23 May 2008, 9am to 5pm
Over the last few years environmental assessment has become increasingly controversial in Australia. A series of cases such as the Gunns' pulp mill in Tasmania, the dredging of Port Phillip Bay in Victoria and the construction of the Traveston Dam in Queensland have attracted national attention. There has been a marked increase in litigation at both state and a federal levels. There has been radical changes to legislation.
This conference will take a national look at this issue, examining the state of the law and practice of environmental assessment across the country.
Hosted by the Australian Centre for Environmental Law, ANU College of Law.
