Background information:

In July this year two Australian students joined two Korean students to undertake an investigation or 'Learning Journey' into issues connected with the topic of 'Energy'.

Commencing in Canberra, the 'Learning Journey' took the students to Queensland and the Northern Territory to meet experts and visit locations while gaining a first-hand understanding of global 'Energy' related issues.

The 'Learning Journey' culminated in a forum on 8 August where the panel of four interviewed Foreign Affairs Minister Alexander Downer before a live student audience in Canberra and Seoul.

The 'Learning Journey' and forum will then make up a one hour documentary for television produced by Korean TV network EBS.

Student biographies:

My name is Tina Pahlman and I'm a 17yr old student in Yr 12 at Dickson College. I was born in Thailand and lived in Lao PDR for 6yrs, during which time I traveled through the region before moving to Canberra. I really enjoy school and my favourite subjects are History, International Relations and Legal Studies, all of which have an important relationship to politics. My interest in politics began when my father became an ACT Greens candidate, however my love for traveling and other cultures led to a particular interest in global relations. I participated in the SBS School Torque program last year where I interviewed Minister Julie Bishop about careers. I have been active in the school and local community including undertaking volunteer work with a number of organisations.
