Duration: 30 minutes facilitated, then allow 40 minutes for teacher-guided exploration
$2.50 per student
Maximum group size: 30 (larger groups of up to 60 can be accommodated by commencing the program at 30 minute intervals)
Aim
The aim of this program is to provide students with the opportunity to:
- explore a range of issues and themes relating to Australia's environment
- reflect on their knowledge of environmental issues through teamwork, then to explore these themes in greater depth in the gallery.
Outline
The program has two main components:
-
Introduction – working in teams, students explore issues and challenges relating to the Australian environment through a lively quiz show activity.
-
Gallery visit – under the supervision of their teachers, students visit the Old New Land exhibition gallery and, working in pairs, record their examination of environmental issues in a newspaper style format.
As students only visit one exhibition during this program, you may like to allow time to visit other exhibitions and to explore other places in the Museum.
