Aim
The aim of this program is to provide students with the opportunity to:
- explore the history of their National Capital by examining sites, objects and stories on the Acton Peninsula surrounding the National Museum
- reflect on the layers of history and human occupation of the Canberra region.
Outline
The program has two main components:

Introduction – students are introduced to the concept of deep time and to time and change throughout the Canberra region's history.

Outdoor sites – working in groups, students handle objects, listen to stories and explore the past through imaginative exercises at several outdoor sites around the National Museum.
Please note that as this is an outdoor program students should wear sturdy enclosed-toe shoes and hats and bring raincoats as necessary.
You may like to allow extra time to visit other exhibitions and to explore other places in the Museum.
