Changes to Museum access
Over the coming decade, the National Museum has ambitious plans for expansion and regeneration. These plans begin with the redesign of the Forecourt. Welcoming visitors to the Museum, this garden precinct will be an immersive, sensory representation of the Australian landscape.
Parts of the Museum's car park are closed and access to the building has changed as we work towards the first stage of the Forecourt opening in September 2018. Until then, visitors can access the Museum building via the orange footpath adjacent to the car park. The Museum's main entrance door will be closed for two weeks from 23 July to 6 August 2018. Entry will be on the same side as the main entrance, further along the deck towards the Garden of Australian Dreams.
School and bus groups must enter via the temporary entrance to the left of the bus parking bays. Thanks for your patience during the works. See maps below for detailed access information.
