Sharing the Sands 2007 competition winning entries

To complement the Between the Flags: 100 Years of Lifesaving exhibition, the National Museum of Australia invited primary and secondary school students from around Australia to produce artworks depicting their vision of the beach and enter them in a competition entitled Sharing the Sands. All entries received were of a high standard with safety and leisure featuring as prominent themes. Pip McNaught, assistant curator of the Between the Flags exhibition and Mitch Preston, senior education officer, both from the National Museum of Australia, judged the entries.

The prizewinners in each category are:

Primary
1st prize - Hayden Brewer, Aged 10 years, Sydney Distance Education Primary School
2nd prize – Ruby Bok, Aged 12 years, Campbell Primary School, Western Australia
Highly commended - Rishma Pragash, Aged 12 years, Campbell Primary School, Western Australia

Secondary
1st prize – Elleni Vassilakoglou, Darwin High School, Northern Territory
2nd prize – Tatanja Ross, Darwin High School, Northern Territory
Highly commended – Kristy McAway, Darwin High School, Northern Territory
