2005 Drawing the lines: schools political cartooning competition - winning entries

To complement the Behind the Lines: The Year's Best Cartoons exhibition, the National Museum of Australia invited upper primary and secondary school students from the Australian Capital Territory and regional New South Wales to enter a political cartooning competition entitled Drawing the Lines.

A total of 207 entries were received, all of a very high standard and with a strong focus on current political issues. The school entries were judged by Australian political cartoonist, David Pope aka Heinrich Hinze and the curator of the Behind the Lines exhibition, Guy Hansen of the National Museum of Australia.

The prizewinners in each category are:
