Winners 2007 political cartooning competition for schools

2007 Drawing the Lines: Schools Political Cartooning Competition - winning entries

To complement the Behind the Lines: The Year's Best Cartoons exhibition, the National Museum of Australia invited upper primary and secondary school students from the Australian Capital Territory and regional New South Wales to enter a political cartooning competition entitled Drawing the Lines.

All entries received were of a very high standard with a strong focus on current political issues.

A ceremony and morning tea were held at the Museum on Thursday 13 December 2007, with the prizes being presented by editorial cartoonist for the Sun-Herald, David Pope (better known by his signature Heinrich Hinze). David was also the judge for the competition.

The prizewinners in each category are:

Primary

1st prize - Harry Dalton, Campbell Primary School, ACT

2nd prize - Aaron Stephen, Marist College Junior School, ACT

3rd prize - Tiahne Douglas, Mount Carmel Central School, Yass


Secondary

1st prize - Ann Plummer, Dickson College, ACT

2nd prize - Hannah Bull, Lake Tuggeranong College, NSW

3rd prize - Jeff Evans, Dickson College, ACT
