Drawing the Lines 2009

A NATIONAL POLITICAL CARTOONING COMPETITION FOR SCHOOL STUDENTS

About the competition

Primary and secondary school students from Year 4–12 are invited to participate in a national political cartooning competition, 'Drawing the Lines'.

This competition is held in conjunction with the National Museum of Australia's annual exhibition Behind the Lines: The Year's Best Cartoons.

The competition requires students to submit a cartoon dealing with a recent political issue of national significance.

Entries must be postmarked on or before 23 October 2009.

Categories

Prizes will be awarded in three categories:

  • Year 4–6
  • Year 7–9
  • Year 10–12

Each student will have their work exhibited as part of Behind the Lines: The Year's Best Cartoons and published on the National Museum of Australia's website.

Prizes

iPod touch

First prize in each category

iPod touch 32GB + $100 iTunes voucher

$500 for the school of the winning student

A trip for two (winner and parent/guardian) to Canberra,
including return airfares and one night's accommodation.

iPod nano

Second prize in each category

iPod Nano 16GB + $50 iTunes voucher

iPod shuffle

Third prize in each category

iPod shuffle 4GB + $50 iTunes voucher

Highly commended - up to three in each category

$50 iTunes voucher

How to enter

  1. Draw a cartoon on A4 paper (by hand or using a computer) about a recent political issue of national significance.
  2. Complete the entry form (see attachment below), including the agreement to participate.
  3. Attach the entry form to your cartoon and post in an A4 envelope (not folded) to:
