Events at the National Museum of Australia
Location
Enjoying one of the best locations in Canberra, on the beautiful Acton Peninsula, the National Museum of Australia is a venue with a difference.
Venue
Opened in 2001, the Museum boasts stunning architecture and magnificent mountain, lakeside and city views. Sweeping decks, expansive windows and imposing indoor and outdoor spaces make the Museum a highly versatile and dynamic function venue for any occasion.
Waterfront dining – indoors or out on the deck – combines delicious cuisine with spectacular views over Lake Burley Griffin.
The Museum's Hall provides a stunning entertaining space that requires minimal event theming. Guests can enjoy the unique experience of mingling among grand-scale treasures from the Museum’s collection, including a vintage Citroen tourer, a 1930s monoplane, a Tasmanian bark canoe, a 1905 steam engine and a 200-year-old coach. High ceilings, curved walls and customised lighting add to the drama of the space.
At the heart of the Museum is the Garden of Australian Dreams, a symbolic landscape exploring ideas of ‘place’ and ‘country’. This enclosed outdoor area, with its water features and creative landscaping and lighting effects, makes the perfect setting for any event under the stars.
Unique corporate gifts
Corporate gifts to complement a special event or occasion can be pre-purchased from the Museum Shop. Here you’ll find a variety of Australian-made gifts and an exclusive range of National Museum products. After-hours access to the Museum Shop for your guests can be arranged by request.
Private tours
Private tours of the Museum’s galleries and exclusive exhibition viewings before, during or after your event can also be arranged. What better way for your guests to discover the treasured, surprising and inspirational objects from Australia’s history.
