National parks: Boots in the bush (1.85mb)
Explore the strange boots, made by Myles Dunphy for a very special member of his bush walking family. After you have worked out who and what they are for, look at a map showing the national parks in your state or territory.
For 5-7 year olds

National parks: Wheels in the bush (1.55mb)
The object you explore in this learning object was also made by Myles Dunphy, but for a different member of his bush walking family. After you have worked out who and what they are for, look at a map showing the national parks in your state or territory.
For 5-7 year olds

Overview

In both of these interactives, you are assisted by Ben, a young boy in the Blue Mountains region of New South Wales. Ben introduces you to the Dunphy family as they camp in a bushland setting. Myles Dunphy was one of the founders of Australia's Conservation movement in the 1930s. He created some unusual objects to help his family enjoy the Australian bush in more comfort. Both of these objects are now held by the National Museum of Australia.

For more information about these objects see the 'Bush pram and dog boots' collection highlight.
