1954 violin

| AE Smith violin, modelled on the 'Alard' Stradivarius. The body is made of maple wood and the top plate of straight grained spruce. The instrument is finished with a red-brown varnish laid over a golden ground.

Violoncello

| 1953 AE Smith cello, modelled on the 'Haussmann' Stradivarius. Smith repaired and studied the Stradivarius original, owned by Edmund Kurtz, when he toured Australia. Kurtz considered the Smith cello to have comparable qualities to the original.
