Towards the future

People are sitting and relaxing in the Friendship Garden at Darling Harbour in Sydney, a joint development of Guandong Province and the New South Wales Government. Two young surfers, one of European and the other of Chinese background, head for the beach with their surfboards tucked under their arms.
Celebrating 200 years of Chinese Australian history
The Harvest of Endurance celebrates 200 years of Chinese Australian history. Chinese immigrants to Australia have come from diverse ethnic, linguistic, political and religious groups and from various geographical locations in China and South-East Asia. Over many generations, Chinese people have added much to Australian culture, through their art, food and traditional activities such as dragon and lion dances. The presence of 'Chinatowns' in many Australian cities has contributed to the vibrancy of urban life.
