The boy wears a pair of wicketkeeping gloves and is semi-crouched, ready to catch the ball. A mixture of other boys and adults stand at either side of the cricketer and the boy. In the background can be seen many more people on the large sports ground where the photo has been taken. Beyond the sports ground are old and new buildings and stands of palm trees. The sun shines into the photo from beyond the left-hand photo frame. The long shadows on the ground suggest that the photo was taken early or late in the day.

The ground is covered in paving tiles. Areas of mown grass can be seen to the right of the group. Trees can be seen in the left and right background. The four towers of the Taj Mahal are visible, as is its central dome. The sky in the photo is blue and free of cloud. Each person in the photo casts a dark shadow on the ground.
