Child's black dress with red trim, black panties and red booties.

Black dress, panties and booties worn by Azaria Chamberlain. This dress is a powerful illustration of the frenzy of speculation which surrounded the Chamberlain story. It was originally made for Lindy Chamberlain's son, Reagan. However, rumours emerged that Lindy often dressed her daughter in black – a colour which was perceived by some to be an 'unnatural' colour in which to dress a child – and another sign of her apparent guilt.
